On every ad of a camera the first thing boasted boldly on feature is the pixel count. 15-20 megapixels are fairly common these days. Rather you will possibly not find a 5 megapixel camara available in market.

But can you remember somewhere you read or heard higher megapixels are required for higher image quality? Where did we get this idea from? And of course if it's not so why the camera companies are after the megapixel run? At least how much pixels do we need for a fairly excellent image?
